The Bowl full of Soul Story

Our Story

Bec Cassar heads the team at Bowl full of Soul and has over 23 years experience in the food industry sharing her skills, knowledge, service & passion for all things food.

Bec balances an earthy bohemian style with relaxed elegance and sophistication.

'Our presentation is artfully simple the natural beauty of food is our focus.'

Bec has a broad range of food influence.

Growing up in a Maltese - Australian family her early years saw a wonderful blend of mediterranean foods & old fashion country cooking.

Her grandparents lived right across the road from one another and Bec would spend time with both Nanas learning their secrets in the kitchen.

In her twenties she started to explore South East Asian cuisine which saw her spending  time abroad. Back home in Melbourne Bec spent time working and mixing with the Thai community, forging long standing friendships, learning cooking techniques & flavour combinations.

Thus began her love of fresh clean flavours.

Bec's signature style of catering is grazing meals; which may include a feast of slow cooked meats, vegetable dishes and salads or decadent colourful platters and full flowing luscious grazing boards.

For our catering displays we use natural timber bowls, platers and serving trays, natural tree rounds and slices, bamboo boards, ceramics & glass.

Since 2014

Bowl full of Soul has quite humble beginnings. We started out by accident really.

Being discontent with working in cafes and restaurants for so many years. I found it challenging working for restaurant owners that didn't care about the quality of food the chefs had to work with, let alone the excessive use of non biodegradable plastic take away containers.

So I began a journey on what i thought was a completely different path.

I studied various modalities in Health and Wellbeing and began working as a therapist in 2009.

In 2013 I felt the need to connect further with my community and booked a stall at a local market. At that time there wasn't any healthy food options at the market so I took my lunch with me, the neighbouring stall holders wanted to know what I was eating so I shared my salad and the recipe. The next month I took a larger salad to share.

The stall holders encouraged me to follow my passion for food and I become a regular food stall at the Bollygum Market in Kinglake.
